P.E.D.A. is intended for High Schools ONLY or High Risk populations.
Impact DWI have produced two additional versions suitable for general population. They are as follows:
Edition # 1 This is a very graphic program in which teens reenact their
own experiences with drugs and alcohol and their friends' tragedies. They also show an alternative to substance
abuse by being involved in personal growth with an array of activities to alleviate boredom.
The kit you order will come with instructions on how to present the video, surveys to be filled out by your peers
(both before and after your presentation), and permission slips to be filled out by parents allowing students to participate in your presentation.
This program should be divided into three parts and should be shown at health classes where you and your teacher will be working together.
(Your teacher will have to approve all of the content of this edition for your classes; including written permission for you to show this program).
Written permission should be mailed (on our enclosed self addressed stamped envelope).
Your teacher will also be responsible for permission slips to be signed by parents prior to classes.
Those who have not returned permission slips signed by parents are NOT allowed to view the video and your
teacher will have to assign them to study hall or other activities during this class.
The first class will be taught by your teacher. He or she will give an overview of health issues related to
drugs and alcohol. Your teacher will hand out a survey to be filled out anonymously by students and collect it at the end of the class.
The second class will be presented solely by you. You make an opening comment and show the video.
You have 5 minutes for an opening comment, 50 minutes of video, and 5 minutes for a closing comment.
In your third class you and your teacher will interact with the class in discussions regarding substance abuse.
The video you presented will inspire you to answer most of the questions your audience will ask.
You will also hand out another survey to your audience and collect it at the end of your class.
All surveys and permission slips from parents should be promptly mailed to us in our self-addressed stamped envelope at the end of your third day of class.
Edition # 2 - Interactive workshop version Total video duration: 18 minutes
This version contains three testimonials followed by questions after each testimonial where teachers
and students discuss each negative consequence suffered by the people who shared their story in this video.
After each segment the video is paused to allow time for discussions. Following the last discussion, there is an uplifting segment on alternatives to substance abuse.
This video is suitable for Middle Schools and High Schools and can be presented in less than an hour.
You will also hand out a pre and post survey to your audience and collect it at the end of your class.
Edition # 3 - Produced for Middle Schools and High Schools Total video duration: 32 minutes and 25 seconds minutes
All scenes containing violence related to substance abuse were modified in order to make this program available to general populations.
The peer leadership in this edition was designed by Mara Dauber and Ashley Ramirez, who are graduates from the ASAP program (Awareness and support available for peers).
The ASAP program taps into a large number of the 40 Developmental Assets associated with reduced use of drugs and alcohol. The 40 developmental assets are positive
experiences, relationships, opportunities, and personal qualities that young people need to grow up healthy, caring and responsible.
Mara Dauber and Ashley Ramirez clearly demonstrate their abilities as peer leaders in this version.
This video can be presented in one class and allows plenty of time for open discussions.
You will also hand out a pre and post survey to your audience and collect it at the end of your class.
What's in it for you? Community Service and College Admissions
Community service DOES count when it comes to college admissions. Furthermore, some colleges and universities provide scholarships based on community service.
Community service is considered an educational strategy designed to enhance social and academic learning while developing character and citizenship skills.
Being involved in peer-to-peer substance abuse education will greatly enhance your college admission prospects and your scholarship opportunities.
We are also giving away an array of appreciation gifts for those who introduce the P.E.D.A. program at their schools. It is not a bad idea to get
the media involved in order for your community to acknowledge your efforts in reducing substance abuse.
So what are you waiting for? Download and fill out this order form and start serving your school and your community with your amazing dedication and skills.
